Working on the comeback

Working on the comeback

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

I realize it has been a long while since I’ve posted anything about running. If I can’t walk, I can’t run, and therefore, I can’t post. Sept. 10th I was at Track Practice for Track Tuesday and my right knee was in pain. I was wobbling. What happen was…….weeks before I ran around Horn Pond, fell and recovered from that. Then At Road to Wellness on Sept. 7th I got a massage on my right leg and I was not ok afterwards.

Long story short. I could not put pressure on my leg. I had to walk around with a cane. I did the Rest, elevate, ice, and take pills method. It wasn’t working. Thursday of that week, I went to acupuncture. I’ve always got good results from acupuncture. From Thursday to Saturday, the next time I went, Justine the Acupuncturist saw the swelling had gone down but I was still in pain. Luckiely I was able to make an appointment with my orthopedic on Monday. Monday he drained my knee and gave me steroid shot and told me I could run by Saturday.

Well, no. Saturday I could walk but not run. It’s getting better. I bought a compression sleeve and continued stretching. This Saturday, in the rain and the last day of summer, I walked. I walked 4 miles. I might have over did it a bit. At least I was able to move.

Now, I’m giving myself until the end of September before I can walk. The goal is the marathon. The goal is Nov. 16th. The goal is to run and not be in pain.

This is what happens at 50. All the trails and tribulations of running.
