Saturday: First Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Today is my first attempt at running on the pavement. For weeks now, I’ve been riding the bike and doing the elliptical at the Y. I feel that it’s time. Especially since I had my first sport’s massage. And bonus……I found the exercises to do for my knee when I had PT a couple of years ago.
This morning is a test. My goal is a 5k. But I can’t stay out too long because I have an acupuncture appointment this morning. Trying to keep everything moving. I ran along the East Boston Greenway around the Hyatt hotel. I know out and back that’s a mile total. It was kind of rocky at first, I will admit. I think my legs were in shock. To my surprise and perhaps motivation needed, I saw a rainbow. I had to keep going, right?
I ran along the greenway and then through the shipyard and marine. I knee was feeling a bit wonky, so I slowed and walked a bit. Then I made my way through Pier’s Park. I couldn’t run consistency through the park.
I’m taking inventory on body and leg. Then I ran down to Everett street.
I did not complete my 5k as planned. I ran 2.53 miles; 12:34 pace; 31:52. This is the first day. I know tomorrow will be better.
