2024: 1st run and Track Tuesday

And now it’s 2024! December of Last year was crazy. The end of the semester, my dad had heart failure so I had to go to Cincy, and I went to Iowa for two weeks for Scott’s Birthday and Christmas. I was smart enough to make sure to bring my running attire. I did get some 5ks and 4 milers in while I was gone.
That was the end of 2023. Now it’s a New Year. I realized that my January 1st 2024 first run was my 10th first run. This is my new tradition that I started after my mom passed and I discovered running. Since we were no longer going to have our family vacations from christmas to New Years, I had to do something different.
When I first started in 2014, it was just me. Now my BGR sole sistas join me. The last couple of years Scott has joined in too. On the first this year it was cold out, 37 degrees out. I wanted to see what I could do. I ran 3.12 miles in 31:19mins and 10:02 pace. I just need to keep that up for another 10 miles :)!
Afterwards there were lots of mimosas to be had. I’m not sure if it was me or where we were all sitting, but people were giving me their drink tickets. Some folks said they don’t drink, others were out until 3a.m. this morning and couldn’t do anymore drinking. I appreciated all the reasons and the tickets. The one let down was no pizza! Last year there were drinks and pizza.
The first day of the new year started well. I had to rest up because the next day, Tuesday, was day one of Track Tuesday at the Reggie. Since I am a pacer now, I had to be there early. Track starts at 6:35a.m. We have to be there by 6a.m. That means being parked and in the Reggie by 5:45a.m. for me.
I wasn’t planning on being a lead pacer for team Red today. Unfortunately there was no one for the Blue Team and Jordan had to be the pacer . That left me and MB. Which worked out. She was a great time keeper for our 1 min breaks. We ran 400s( twice around the track) 9 times. MB, told me what our pace time should be. I think I kept on pace but I’m not sure. It was the first day back and my first time doing indoor track. Everyone was fine.
Tomorrow is strength training at the Y. I’m really, starting off 2024, my birthday year working on strength, stamina, and endurance.
