5 miler on Thursday
COVID-19, “Rona Era”
We are going to be hit by a snowstorm on Saturday night. Oddly people are freaking out. At least acting like they don’t know what to do in the snow. It’s been a long while since we had snow. I’m not sure how people can forget what to do. This morning, it is warm and the snow is not here yet. I had to take my ass out to run.
So far of the new year, this makes for day three of moving my body. Monday:First run 5k; Tuesday, Track Tuesday; Wednesday: Strength Training at the Y; Thursday, 5.50 miler. All while being on my period. Yes, hello 2024.
The struggle was real to get out of bed. I had a 9a.m. had appointment. I knew I had to get up and run early so I could have time to shower, change, etc. I just couldn’t get up. Around 5:45a.m. I started to move. Part of me watched the 5a.m. news to see all the craziness from Harvard’s first black women president resigning from conservative bullying to weather and this snow coming, to the republican primaries which are less than two weeks away.
I was out by 5:55a.m. I ran to Chelsea and to Mary O’Mallery Park. My goal was to run a 10k. I ran 5.50 miles. It was warm enough to run while it was somewhat quiet before it got busy around 7a.m. Running through the park and under the Tobin bridge made me happy. It reminded me that I can still run and this is apart of my running route. I’m thinking my time might be better if I didn’t stop and take all the pictures. :0
5.54 miles; 1:02:00; 11:11pace. This is a good baseline. Over the next 4-5 weeks, I want to run a 10k in one hour. I see this week as working on the baseline and knowing where I am.
