The Saturday run before the grocery store
COVID-19 - The Ronna Era
Saturday! I need to go to the grocery store. I made an attempt yesterday at noon, which was stupid because it was packed. Long lines and people everywhere. WTF. I couldn’t, I just couldn’t so I left. I tried grocery store #2 and the same thing. Did I miss a news announcement? I was just like Fuck and I went to the liquor store. This morning my plan was to run before going to the grocery store early. I needed to mentally be ready for combat shopping. Running of course, is my way to clear my mind, think, and breathe.
I drove to the store parking lot because after the run I would go into the store, smart right. I didn’t want to put too many miles on my legs because tomorrow I would do a long run. I ran through Mary O’ Mallory Park in Chelsea. It was early and quiet before daylight and super windy. I didn’t run a 5k but I ran 2.38 miles. When I finished it was close to 7 a.m. I wanted to get in the store and get out.
I was ready for it. To my delight there was room and it wasn’t packed. There was an odd feeling in the store. People were quiet and you could feel tension. Odd to see people shopping with face mask and gloves. Even the store workers had them on. At my store all the frozen chicken was gone. There was lots of red meat and fish but no chicken? And the frozen vegetables were in limited supply. The wait time at the check line was fairly quick. I was out by 7:35 a.m.
Whew! Happy for the run. It was a good strong run without pain and a good stride.
