Running before the Rain
COVID-19 Era “ a.k.a The Rona”
It’s going to rain today so I should get the morning run in before it does. Yesterday was a lot. I meet with students via zoom, had advising, and an academic meeting with the Provost and 101 of my colleagues. It was good to see my students that I hadn’t seen in two weeks and to check in with them. Some had lost jobs or their parent(s) had lost their jobs. Others are working more hours either at a grocery store, security, or being a nanny. Others are in the national reserve and may be called into duty. So many things.
In this time advising was more than advising. Students wanted to talk and express their emotions and feelings. Whom am I to say your 30 minutes are up. It was a range of emotions for me yesterday. This is why I appreciated even more the Wednesday 5pm cocktail meetings. :)
I may have cocktailed too much because this morning I had bags under my eyes and I looked rough. That wasn’t going to stop me from getting a 5k in. Iran 3.36 miles for a Thursday a.m. run.
That is just what I needed to get ready for today
