The last Themed run
COVID-19 The RONA Era
Today is the Saturday before Easter Sunday. I won’t run on Easter which means today is going to be my long run. For the 10 miler I drove to MIT to run along the Charles River on the Cambridge and Boston side. The bright clear blue sky was a deception. The weather was cold and super windy. A windy cold. I was on the last themed mission of holy week. Running and running past churches to take pictures.
At first there were very few people on the Charles, this was around 6:45 a.m. Runners and bike riders had on mask or something covering their face. I decided not to put my mask on because of the few people around.
As I ran I saw all the geese, whom do not know how to keep 6ft apart. Really they don’t care. I kept on running with few people interaction. Along my route, two older white gentlemen, at different points on my run, raised their hands to say hello. That was a first.
I can not pin point, the point in which everyone was on the Charles running, walking, walking their dog, or walking with their kids. I ‘m not sure what happen. The good of all this, people had on mask and/or they were mindful of social/physical distancing..
While this was going on, I was making good stride time. One hour and 6 minutes went by when I reached the 6 mile marker. Getting better. I wasn’t pushing myself just trying to find my stride.
The push back on running was the wind. The wind was strong, cold, and killing my ear. I know I am not a delicate flower but that wind was pushy . I did my best to push back.
I appreciate exploring the nature, arty, city, urban, spring morning run, while hitting the pavement. I made it to 9.15 miles before my knee started to bother me. I wasn’t going to push it any more. I just walked the .85 miles. Proud of all the things. :)
