Moonlit a.m. Monday Run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
First a.m. run of November 2020. My body is still a bit confused because daylight savings time ended on Sunday, we fall back an hour. I woke up at 4 a.m.which would normally have been 5 a.m. if we didn’t push the clocks back an hour. I had an extra hour to sleep. Because I waited and ran at 6 a.m., there was light! No headlight needed running 3.46 miles in my neighborhood. When I ran, I ran with the moon following me. This has happened a couple of times before, which I always enjoy. I feel like I’m running at night but not and I get to see something so beautiful that most people do not get to see.
For a Monday, this morning was challenging. My earbuds were not working with my phone. No one needs to hear my crazy racket music as I run. To keep things moving, I just ran with my phone in my coat and my hearbuds still plugged in, habit. Eventually, things went back to normal and I could hear the music through my headphones.
My running jacket may have been a bit too heavy. I wasn’t sure how the 36 degree weather would feel while running. Actually it was mild and very windy considering the Friday snow we had which lasted through Halloween.
Because I took Sunday off, I was just happy to run. I’m trying not to think about the election tomorrow or the mob white folks that are blocking highways and harassing people driving to prevent them from voting. It all makes me sick and angry. Today as especially a good mental health morning.
I enjoyed the moon, my sweat, and the run.
