Track Tuesday with Goodies

This is the last Track Tuesday before I get an MRI for my right knee. Actually my appointment is today( on Track Tuesday). I was debating if I should take my cocktail of Tylenol and Advil before track. I did. My MRI isn’t until 5pm.

Coach Dan is in LA and we have Russell hustle with us to lead the troops. Russell brought Nike goodies of shirts and new shoes. I needed a new pacer shirts and shoes. Perfect timing. Because we are in the spring break cycle, track felt kind of empty. We did not see our normal regulars and I think less than 60 people showed up. That was fine for track management

Today on deck was a 10min temp run. 2 min break. 4x400 with a 1 min break in between , switching between a 5k and 10k pace. I didn’t follow the pace switch. I just ran. ooops. Team Red had our two regulars , 1 new person, and 1 person that kept going between us and the blue team. Completely doable.

We all started off with the 10 min tempo pace. I always tell my crew, that for me tempo is a 10k pace that I can hold for an hour. It felt good to run since I haven’s since Saturday. Since my running mileage is low. I’m trying to keep my body and time on feet active.

My birthday is next month. Can I do a half marathon. Should I do a half marathon. If the answer is yes, I need to put more time on my feet and run more. And I need to make a decision quickly about it.

For now, it’s track Tuesday. With my group of four it was not bad. I went to strength training on Monday. I gentle with myself today. My team pushed me to keep on pace and keep going. It was hard today, I will not lie.

10 minute tempo run was no joke. It was hot in the Reggie. Perhaps going around in never ending circles made it feel longer. This is when you know that running is a mental game. I run half marathons and marathon in 2-5 hours. Yet, running for 10 mins exhausted me. Someone explain that to me.

But, the task got done and I got goodies all before 7:45a.m. #winning
