Post V-day run

“Era of WTR”

The snow, the storm is coming. I know, it’s winter and winter in New England. I need to get the miles in before the snow. Plus I need to get my legs and body ready for Selma. Unfortunately, we had another storm earlier this week which made me late for an orthopedic appointment- which had to get reschedule. Frustrating. At least I have an appointment in another two weeks.

Anywho, the goal is a 10k. This is my first time running outside this week. I started off steady and the knee pain wasn’t so bad. Also, I might have over dressed because I was hot. I knew I could run along the Charles for 6 miles. Everyone was out running this morning. People training for Boston, Tokyo and their were college students in town for a track meet. They were running to get warmed up. I saw Michigan, Ole Miss team running outfits. These young people were running in packs. This was very interesting.

I parked in Cambridgeport side- North Point. Ran past the Museum on Science to start my run along the Charles. I literally and figurative ran into women who I know from the running community. It was great to see friendly faces. I kept on going. By the time I saw them, I was two miles in.

It was cold, I was cold and hot, and my knee was starting to annoy me. I didn’t take any pills, put on a knee compression sleeve, or even ice/heat my knee. I just ran, I just went. What I should have done but I did not was interval running. I needed to download the app, and get back to interval running which helped me run the Every woman’s marathon last November.

To be fair, I did stop for my photos and to chat. I finished 5.14 miles in 1 hour and 6.81 minutes. I can’t wait until the doctor approves a MRI. Not having full range of motion and bending in my knee is getting old. I’m glad I was able to do something. I just have to kept on keeping on.
