First run and Long run of March 2024
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
It’s March. That means Women’s Month. To kick off this first Saturday, I’m running 10 miles on the Boston Marathon course. I’m trying to get my body and legs ready for Selma to Montgomery relay race. I made sure to get up and be early on the course. I like running when there aren’t runners around.
I parked in front of Heartbreakers store at 6:20a.m. By 6:25a.m. I was off. No cars, no people, just me and the hills. I think my stamina is getting better for getting up those hills without stopping. Yeah me. This time I didn’t see any Turkeys on the course. I think it’s Boston College’s spring break. I saw many students with pack suitcases going into cars.
The weather was just right this morning, around 40 degrees. A couple of runners did pass by me, around the 5 mile mark. One black woman, slowed her car down, to make sure that I saw her. We both smile and nodded at each other. She told me to keep it up.
This morning, I forgot my watch. I had to use Strava, which was fine. I made sure to run more than 10 miles, in case Strava did not get my actual miles.
Strava told me my pace was a 10:54 and I ran 10.52 miles. By the time I finished, it was close to 9 a.m. There were more cars and people running up and down those hills. I am happy to see my friend Liz Rock on the course as she trains for Boston. It was a good Saturday and first run of March
