First Friday of August

First Friday of August

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

First Friday of August and it’s soupy again. I need to get miles in for week 1 of Marathon training. To mix things up, I drove to Deer Island. As I was driving to the island, the big red- hazy sun started to slow raise up to the horizon. I wish I had gotten up earlier to capture it when it was rising. Arriving at Deer Island, I was still able to see the hazy red sun as it was above the water.

I can’t remember the last time I was running around Deer Island. I was hoping for a cool breeze and to beat the heat advisory warning. It was a mix bag. I got some cool and I could feel the heat before 6:30a.m. To my shock, there were lots of folks out running. In this heat. One lady, had her husband, follow her on his bike. I’m assuming she might be running long miles- training for a marathon or it could be medical. It was still cool that he was following her.

The views kept me going. I was trying for 6 miles but 4 got done. Strong, slow, and steady is the way to go in this oppressive heat.

4,09 miles; 49:34.
