Saturday with Stalkers, humidity and mugginess : Week 1 of Marathon Training

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Yesterday was my rest day. When I left the Iowan, it was pouring down rain. We know I don’t run in rain. The rain had stopped by mid afternoon and I don’t run in the afternoon. So there you go.

Resting, active recovery as they call it is good. This morning, I ran 5 miles in the mugginess and humidity of the morning. This was at 7:05a.m. and 75 degrees.

I felt strong and I felt like my body - stamina and endurance was slowly getting back to running longer miles. I had to take it easy because I was sweating like a whore in church. My run around the Mystic River Reservation included a lot of talks. The geese, the swans, the ducks, and turkeys, yes the Turkeys. The folks that I saw on my 5 mile path were mostly walkers and one police officer on a bike.

I think because this is the 4th of July holiday weekend things seem a bit quiet. I need to enjoy that.

Week 1 of Marathon training down!

Today also ends week 1 of Every Women’s Marathon training. The program is 20 weeks, which I think is way too long to train. Considering how week 1 went, I clearly need the time. Plus I think it’s a different kind of training in hot weather.

Week 1 I login in 16 miles and I had 1 full day of strength training( Monday at the Y). The other days, I followed the stretching training plan.

Progress not perfection

5.01 miles; 11:18mile/pace; 56:41 time. .
