Last run of 2022!
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
It’s Saturday. A long run day. It’s also the last day of December and the last day of 2022. Mother nature is playing heads games with us. Today, it is 54 degrees out. It’s foggy, a bit rainy, and warm. Meanwhile, other parts of the country are still covered in snow and freezing temperatures.
I’m using two different Marathon training plans. One has today as a 9 mile run, the other a 10 mile run. To be honest, a week in Iowa and not running has me a bit confused as to what week I really am on. The plan for 2023 is to get my marathon training shit together.
In the meanwhile, I’m going to run 10 miles today. The last time I ran 10 miles was for a half marathon, I did for my mom’s passing anniversary in July. That was a half marathon.
With the warm weather, everyone was out and about, running along the Charles. If someone visited this part of Boston, they would have the illusion that everyone runs, which is not true.
There were lots of people out running. I will admit, the first 3-4 miles seemed a bit hard but I kept going. Homeless people, running people, fishing people, biking people- were all out this morning.
I saw one black women on a bike who acknowledged me. Other than that, I was a lone black woman running in this space.
My route was around the Charles River, on the esplanade, and then around the Boston Commons and Public Gardens. Then back to the Esplanade and Cambridge.
I had forgotten that 10 miles is a lot of miles and takes a lot of time. My plan is to add another 16.2 to this? What was I thinking.
I reminded myself that this is the baseline. I have 14, 15, or 17 more weeks to train. It may not have been pretty but the job got done.
