Last a.m. run of March 2022
COVID-19, “The Rona Era.”
Unlike wintry Tuesdays a.m., Spring came back for the last day of the month. 44 degrees, no wind, and I heard the birds chirping away. They too are excited. The goal of the day 7-8 miles. I went to Mystic River Reservation for the last March run. I wasn’t sure how acupuncture on Tuesday and rest on Wednesday would impact my running this morning.
I slept in a bit and didn’t start running until 6:15 a.m. which is so late for me. To be honest, I need to start running later because the Boston Marathon won’t start until almost 11a.m. for me.
At least it wasn’t dark this morning. I didn’t need my headlight or layers like I did on Tuesday.
I just took my time and fell into my stride. There was no one running on walking on the path. I got into my head and found my running rhythm while listening to some good tunes.
Normally I see the rowers on the Mystic River and they were not out. I did see one man walking in the opposite direction but that was it.
I kept running and working my groove. As it was getting lighter I did see two men, white men running with their gear and gloves. I, of course had on my beloved mittens.
I kept on running.
Once I did my loop around the Mystic from Medford and back to Somerville, I ran by the Organge line and through the back side of Assembly row. Then I made my way through east somerville. That is when I started seeing people waiting for the bus or getting off the bus. By then it was around 7 something in the morning. My surroundings were getting busy.
One man who saw me run told me to keep going and good job. That was unexpected and very encouraging. I smiled and said thank you to him.
When I reached my car, I had run 6.9 miles. That always kills me. I just ran a bit further which took me to union donuts, which looked amazing and I can not have them. At least not until the Marathon is over.
I turned around and ran back to my car.
7.06 miles. Moving time 1:11:26. 10:07 pace. I felt good. My body felt good. My knees felt good. My pelvic floor felt good. The last day and a.m. run of March is a win. Even without donuts.
