Friday Summer Morning Beach Run

Friday Summer Morning Beach Run

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Yesterday was a teaching day, so no morning running. But this morning……..

It’s 58 degrees and it feels like fall for a summer morning beach run. Fall is coming because I have to get the headlight ready to run in the mornings now. Of course I went to my local Revere Beach. It was pretty quite.

When it’s not out, you see all the folks in the morning on the beach. The cool crisp weather apparently kept them away.

I slowly started my run. I think not sleeping well last night made for a slow and sluggish kind of running this morning.

I was rewarded for my efforts by seeing the sun slowly start to rise up. I was thinking about the beauty and aww of being by the water, hearing the water, and seeing the sunrise. This is what I see. But I also thought about the 50 migrants that were flown and dumped on Maratha’s Vineyard yesterday from Florida. I’m assuming this beautiful island may or may not be beautiful for them. I wonder if we are seeing the same sunrise or smelling the water around them and feeling relaxed? Probably not.

This is why I run. This is why my run was a bit slower. I realized I needed to stop running on the beach and run back on the pavement so I wouldn’t be distracted. When I started back running on the pavement, I saw all the kids waiting on the school buses. Around 6:45a.m. is when the quiet of the beach area got a bit louder.

It was still cool and comfortable out. I had on my tights and light running jacket.

I’m sure I should have done 4 miles but I did a 10k instead.

6.28 miles- 11:53 mil- 1lr 14mins
