Monday Beach Run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Sunday was my rest day. I slept in and by 7 a.m. it was 86 degrees and the temperature was increasing. Plus there was a heat advisory yesterday. I was completely o.k. not to run. Today is Monday and I want to start off the week with running early while it was still cool.
At 5:30 a.m. it was already 77 degrees. I know it isn’t going to get any better, so I had to get the run in. I thought a beach run on Revere Beach would be the closest to cool that I will have outside all day.
To my surprise, everyone was on the beach. People were watching the sunrise, swimming in the water, exercise class was working out in addition to the runners, walkers, dog walkers, bikers, and the sun observers.
Before I started, I did take in the beauty of the sun coming up over the water and listening to the sound of the ocean. When I started to run, the sweat started to pour down my face. I knew to run slow and steady because I could feel the heat. I got to 1.58 miles before my map my run app said “ workout ended”. What? Did all my sweat end my running app? That was annoying. I just restarted it up again and reminded myself that I’ve already put 1.58 miles on the pavement. At .50 miles which would have been a little of two miles, I turned around. Going back there was a nice breeze and it seemed cooler. When I reached 1.58 miles on the app( the second time around) I ran the last mile on the beach. I ran along the water and with the seagulls. When I finished 4.22 miles started off Monday morning.
