Last full week of May: Monday Beach Run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Last a.m. run of Monday. Correction last Monday before Memorial Day, holiday Monday. I can’t believe this is the last week of the month. Since this weekend was beyond hotz, I wanted to take advantage of getting up early while it was still cool.
Castle Island, along the water makes good sense to me. To add to the joy of Monday, sunrise is at 5:15a.m. by 5:45 a.m. everyone and their momma was on the island. I saw walkers, runners, dog walker/runners. It was cool and the sun was up and bright. Normally the mornings are mine and quiet, but not today.
Per the CDC recommendations, I didn’t see a lot of people with mask on. Normally I see people, myself included with a mask on their face but pulled down below the mouth. Before you pass someone you bring the mask up to cover your nose and mouth. I didn’t even see that. People are vaxxed( I can only hope) and are ready to bust out.
As I was getting my miles in I had to laugh when I saw the POOP, there it is sign. Clearly there is a huge dog pooping issue on the island. This run could have been an easy 5 miler.
Unfortunately, today is the first day of summer classes and the first day of being furloughed. To make myself available to the students, I told them I would have office hours to chat online at 8a.m. I didn’t think that all the way through. My situation is messed up because we are on Furlough for the day contract, not the Continuing education contract. Summer classes are under the continued education contract but we still are not allowed to use university materials while on furlough. Again, hot mess. Since I was on a time crunch I made it to 4.71 miles running an overall 10:24min/mile.
