City walking

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

My ass was tired yesterday. I was asleep by 8pm. I think it’s the transition of getting back to the academic season. Going to be early meant I was up early this morning and ready to run, I mean walk. To mix things up, I decided to drive into the city and walk around.

I parked near the Boston Gardens and walked to city hall. I took a minute to pay respect to Bill Russell( his statue) because he passed early this week. Bill won 11 championship rings with the Boston Celtics. The amount of racism he endured was unbelievable. I find it interesting that the news keeps talking about his bravery and grace for being a civil rights activist. No one is discussing the systemic and individual forms of racism that he had to endure for decades here.

After Bill, I walked towards Beacon Hill and the Charles Esplanade. It was 67 degrees this morning and it felt great. This time of the morning and in this area there were so many people out. Location and proximity have an impact.

Then I turned around to head back to my car. Another 5k done. I’m feeling good and strong. I know I can’t run for another 4 weeks. I’m still walking 3 miles in under 55 minutes. Next week I’ll think about doing a 5k in less time.

Anyway, it was a good morning.
