Roxbury Thursday Love
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Because I have a hair appointment later this morning, I’m walking in Roxbury today. Late start equals 5k walk instead of 4 miles. I’m not going to beat myself up over it. Walking through the neighborhood, I can see the whiteness and gentrification of Roxbury. At the same time, there is still a black hold on the community and the people that are here. With the new construction of condos and workout studios, the pictures on the outside of the building don’t represent the demographics of the community. I saw the late night drag queens and the bros going to do crossfit within the same space. I wonder what will have in the next couple of months, especially when the students calm back.
It was interesting to see the changes and who the people are. Of course I have lots of questions. I’ll have to hold on them for later on. My walk this morning was slower than yesterday because I kept stopping to take pictures.
Plus the gardens were in bloom and there was a lot of activity around the mini gardens and parks in Roxbury and the South End. I got the task accomplished.
