Pi Day 10k Monday
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Saturday was the long 16 miler. Sunday my assets had to rest. Today is a 10k kind of day. Rest was needed and so helpful running this morning. I didn’t feel any knee pain while running. That is a good thing. This morning I took 16 minutes to stretch. I worked on the strengthening exercises my PT gave me for my hips, my normal stretching, and I found my old PT stretches from the first time I went to PT. I incorporated all of that into my morning.
Day is also the start of our spring break. I didn’t have to start running at 6 a.m. on the dot. I took my time driving to Assembly Row to run on the Mystic. We spring forward with time on Sunday. It was still dark when I went out. I had to use my headlight.
My body felt like this was normal “ wake up time anyway”.
I started my route along the Mystic River. Not a sole insight. I did see one guy running but that was it. The stalkers were in the water and I did see the groups of rowers, rowing on the river. Otherwise it was quiet.
I felt good and strong and I was mindful of how I was feeling and breathing. The beauty of the morning also kept me inspired. Running from darkness into light reminded me of this Lenten Season and all the heaviness in the world right now. At some point, light comes in and a new day starts. The struggle in the darkness is real. I thought about marathon training, writing this book, just life.
The 10k miles this morning was my reflective time. I was rewarded with seeing the sun, hearing my stalkers, and just being in fresh air.
Cheers to Pi Day
