Last 10k a.m. humpday run of March

COVID-19 Era a.k.a The Rona

Another warm 44 degree spring morning for a run. This morning is the last 10k a.m. humpday of March. Seriously, talk about March Madness! I’m happy that I can still go outside, run in nature, and enjoy the peace and fresh air. Today I ran along the Mystic River Reservation to change up the running scenery.

I hadn’t been to Assembly Row( where you can pick up the Reservation before the virus). At 6 a.m in the morning it was quiet. The Starbucks was empty as well as the parking lots. The only action came from the construction crew and one police officer I saw who approached me. I don’t know if I was an oddity because he didn’t see anyone else running or if he thought I was loss. I told him I was just running and have a nice day.

Running on the Mystic path I came across some geese. I was keeping my 6 feet of physical distancing away from them. Geese are some mean S.O.Bs. I didn’t want to fight then or really run fast and away from them.

They kept to themselves.

Geographical location speaks volumes. On this path I saw a couple of Asian/Asian American women running , a couple of white men, and a very good looking Latinx man that ran past me a couple of times. How do I introduce myself and go beyond saying Hello in the era of “The Rona.”

I did see an older lady walking and one couple walking. My question or Fuel for thought: Where are all the African-American runners? The last two weeks as I’ve run, I haven’t seen anyone. Tomorrow I’ll try Franklin Park, maybe that will be different.

Overall this was a good strong 10k run. My time is getting better. I finished this in 1 hour and 4 seconds. My pace was around a 9:50 and 10:05. I still have to prepare myself and body for a half marathon. Hopefully sometime this year I will be able to at least check off a state or two! :)
