An extra Mile for 10k a.m. Humpday Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Another summer a.m. morning in Fall. This Wednesday morning it is Veteran’s Day. I know most people have the day off and I was hoping for a quiet morning run. I know I’m still in recovery from Saturday’s final election results and now dealing with an illegal furlough that was imposed on SSU faculty ( which we found out on Friday). This have to be a morning to run a 10k. Really run it, not do 3 or 4 miles and give myself a pat on the back. I had no excuses not to run the full 6 miles.
For my motivation, I ran through Downtown Boston. I started in the South End, then Beacon Hill, Charles Esplanade, Cambridge, Crossed over Memorial bridge and back through Beacon Hill and the South End.
At 6 a.m. in the morning, there were people out. Running, walking, and also construction men and women working on Veteran’s Day too.
It was good to be in urban nature and be reminded that, the work of change and resistance still continues. I felt good and hopefully as I ran past my stalker geese and could take in the last bits of the fall foliage.
The route that I made myself was not 6 miles but 7. That was something I wasn’t planning on. But why not an extra mile for the Veterans. I need to start working on more mileage anyway.
7.05 miles later I went beyond the 10k a.m. humpday run. Let’s see what happens next Wednesday.
