Wet and Wild Monday
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Back to the Monday grind. I wanted to be up early to start Monday’s run. I was up early to drive to Assembly Row to run along the Mystic River. As I was driving, I saw lighting in my foreground but no rain. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, the terrential downpours came and they came hard. “ Are you F’ing kicking me” were the words that came out of my mouth. Do I stay in my car and wait it out? Do I go to the store and then try to run later? It’s 5:30a.m. and I’m ready to run but mother nature has different plans. I weighted it out for a bit and the rain slowed down to a light sprinkle. I wasn’t sure if this was a rain pause before the hard rain comes back. Of course my running hat is not in the car.
I do have a jacket with a hood. I decided to take the jacket and take my chance and just do it. And it’s still dark out. It’s rainy and dark and it’s too soon for a headlight. I started my run. This morning, the male runners ( there were 3) passed by me while they ran. I did pass by one black man that was walking and we both acknowledged each other. My strides felt good and strong while running. So pelvic PT and breathing is something I need to keep doing.
It was cool and muggy at the same time. I just kept my pace and stride going. I saw some of the rowers as well as my stalkers on the river. I think they were also waiting for the rain to pass as well.
I thought, maybe I can do a 10k this morning? After three mile mark I was still feeling good. By the time I hit the four mile marker, I saw a black woman running. We both gave each other big smiles, “ good mornings”, and a keep going thumbs up. - That was nice.
When I reached 5 mile marker, I was close to my car. I didn’t feel like running for the shake of keeping up the run. So I walked to my car for .50miles. And course, while walking, the rain decided to comeback.
