Week 2: Run before Radiation
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Last week and last Monday of July 2021. I don’t know what happened to July. On this side of the country it has been rainy, wet, and cloudy. Today, summer decided to come and visit because it’s hotz in the a.m.
Today is also week two of radiation. This week we are doing decade music. Monday is 60s Motown music. Until that can happen, I need to run some miles. I made sure to start running at 5:45a.m. on the Mystic Reservation River. Because of radiation, I need to start running early if I’m going to make my 8:30a.m. appointment on time.
This morning, the moon and the sun were both visible. It was pretty cool to see the the red glow of the sun rising, while the cool light blue moon slowly started to fade out of sight. I ran in the middle of it.
After some stretching, I make sure to stretch before running, I starting running along the river. My stalkers were out in full force this morning. They decided to take over the running/walking path. I’m fine with this as long as they move over to let me run. I’m not sure what happened but I ended up running on the street to get out of their way.
I felt good with my running pace. I only saw one other person running this morning. Most of the activity was in the water with all the rowers. I think they must start at 5 or 5:30a.m. they were already rowing in the water by the time I started running.
This was a foggy morning too. Parts of my run reminded me of October with the layer of fog throughout Harold Park( part of the running route).
I still felt a bit of the groin annoyance but I was able to keep on running. While my running app let me know I had completed three miles, I decided to run( no pausing for pictures) for the last mile. I wanted to run strong until I hit mile 4.
It was good. I was dripping wet, or Sparkling as my girl K would say. I ran 4.30 miles on a Monday.
Mile 1: 10:42
Mile 2: 10:44
Mile 3: 10:29
Mile 4: 10:03.
45:07 time; 10:30min/ml pace.
