Run before Radiate: #10 and Last Track Tuesday of July
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
I found out that yesterday the air quality was bad. The haze I saw when the sun was coming up yesterday was due to the west coast fires. The smoke from the fires have made it’s way to Massachusetts. The air quality index was really bad. Since July has been so rainy, the rain we are expected to get today will clear some of the smoke out.
Today is Track Tuesday and I’m tired. Last night I went to sleep at 7pm. I’m not sure if I was tired from the radiation or being on my period or both. I know that when I’m tired I need to stop and rest. My sleep lasted from 7-1a.m. When I woke up, I called the Iowan and went back to bed.
When 5 a.m. came, I was still tired and not in the mood to run. I wasn’t going to have a long debate with myself. I just needed to get up and do a mile. Just a mile to keep moving and help with radiation. I got up, did some stretching and made my way out the door. It was around 6 a.m. when I left. I was ok with it. I didn’t beat myself up. Because today was track Tuesday and I know my routine. I didn’t have to rush.
When I ran to the track, there was only one person on the track. Slowly, the track Tuesday regulars that I normally see showed up. Some of the regulars were already there but I didn’t see them.
My running energy was slow to pick up this morning- radiation the cause?. Around mile three is when my running energy came back. Overall this morning I mixed things up this morning with walking, running, stadium steps and some speed runs.
Not bad for a 4 mile workout before going in for radiation #10 treatment. Today is 70s funk, I can’t wait for the playlist. Monday was 60s Motown and it set the mood for the week.
