COVID-19 “ The Rona Era”

Track Tuesday. Tropical Storm Isaias is coming to New England later today. Right now it’s muggy and the air is kind of still. I do get a sense that something is coming. For now I’ll run until Isaias comes. Today to mix up the track run, I ran around the Fenway area. I ran on the Roberto Clemente field and track around the Back Bay Fens. People were out moving and doing very interesting things to their bodies on the field besides running. There was different kinds of strength training exercises. Some people were with partners, others in groups, and some solo. I witness legs, hips, and arms move in very different directions. My run now felt basic because I was just running. I made sure to stop and do some squats after two laps around the track. I did four laps.

After a couple of miles running on the track, I ran towards Fenway Park. It was great to see the baseball sculptures with mask on and seeing the Black Lives Matter banner underneath Fenway Park. With the outdoor seating, the baseball stadium looked alive and ready for the mass of baseball fans that would normally flock there before a game. But it’s Rona times and that is not happening.

I kept on running. As I ran towards my car in Brookline, I saw some art work from behind and that just put an extra smile on my face. This was so unexpected. That is the beauty of the runs, the unexpected. 3.34 miles of unexpected muggy, sweaty, and smiley.
