Recalucating for Monday's a.m. run
COVID-19, “The Rona Era.”
It’s Monday post-post the Nor’easter. This is the first full week of December and already this week is busy. I know that it is super important for me to run everyday and hold myself accountable to doing the miles that I need to run.
This morning, my plan was to run four miles and do Chloe Ting strength training. As I started to run on the east boston greenway I had a good stride going on. It was still dark and very crisp at 34 degrees. I made sure to wear gloves this time, which made all the difference. The stride was good and I felt strong. My clothes were not bulky or weighed me down. That is part of the balance.
I planned to run through Breman street park for four miles or more when I ran into a flooded path surprise. It wasn’t just a small patch of water. There was a large section of the greenway that was flooded. I tried to go around the shallow parts but then those parts expanded to wider water filled parts. As far as my eye could see the rest of the greenway might be flooded. I had to turn around and get a new direction.
The time I spent trying to figure this out, took time away from running. If I didn’t have a 7:30 a.m. conference call I could have had a different running plan that would let me check off four miles.
My recalcucating and pivoting lead me to 3.19 miles and no Chloe Ting. 10.31 min/ml pace wasn’t bad.
Tomorrow’s goal will have to be 5 miles with or without recalculating. :)
