10K a.m. Beach Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
This is the last 10k a.m. run of December and 2022 for me! I thought I should do a beach run before the snow and rain come. I’m leaving for Iowa tomorrow and it’s going to be in the negative temperatures. There will be no running while I’m gone. When I get back it will be last Tuesday night, so no running on that Wednesday.
I was properly layered and lit up with my headlight. It wasn’t a surprise, the beach was quiet and dark. It was 26 degrees out.
I ran, taking in the sound of the waves and the still of the morning. I felt good running. I realized I need to do more stretching before I left. The first three miles were a bit wonky. I ran, I walked a bit, I didn’t feel like I had enough energy. I should revisit my nutrition. I realized too, that I didn’t have a rest day this week, which might explain the tiredness.
Then around mile 4, my right upper thigh felt tight. This was something new. It felt that way until I finished my run. I think, it’s time for new running shoes, which makes a difference.
I taking on the mental notes on how my body is feeling. I did enjoy the beauty of the morning. As it was getting closer to 7a.m. and closer to daylight. I saw people on the beach. Some were running/ walking on it. Others were taking pictures of the morning sun.
I was trying to feel my groove as I ran. I’m glad I got my miles in before I go.
6.11 miles, 10:59 mile/pace; 1hr 7mins
