Between red and blue
Today is the last day of a track workout in January. I started off with team red, the lowewst of the speeds but then I said, why not, go for team blue. The next one up. After looking at team blue, I went back down to team red. Why? There were way too many in team blue and I like my team red. We had a larger group than last Tuesday but it was just right. To be honest I’m between the two colors. I’m ahead of the pack for team red but I would be at the very bottom for team blue. I know the goal is to push myself. I’ll make that the goal next month.
One of our BGR members and member of team Heartbreakers, Rachel showed up. She gave me the biggest hug and it was so great to see someone that I know. Rachel is a badass Asian-American woman who runs. She told me that she did Paris a couple of years ago and it was great. I like hearing these stories to help get me ready.
I’m starting to get know some of the regular folks who come to run on Tuesday. The dominant white factor is always amazing to me. These folks are a different kind of runner than me. I heard conversations about a 40 mile race and running a race in upstate Vermont. Nope.
Then there were conversations around gear, shoes, and running products which I was clueless on their conversation .
Today there were( including myself) four black women who ran today. 3 of them are apart of the heartbreakers running group. Not all black women are apart of BGR. I wonder if they know about it? I’ll make sure next week to wear my BGR gear and we’ll see what happens. Overall it was a good track workout
