First run of the Winter Solstice
December 21st was the start of winter solstice and today I was the first a.m. of the winter season for me. On my first run there was light snow flurries, it was 23 degrees out, and I had mistletoe jams playing in my ear.
Winter is the toughest season to say vigilant and run. It's dark, it's cold, and the struggles are super real. I don't have energy, I'm tired, I want to sleep, etc.. This is when the mental toughness kicks in. I know once I ran, even if it's a mile, I feel better. I have to remind myself of the benefits of running
What keeps me going is the fact that I have signed up for a couple of winter races( states to run in). I have to run. I don't want to be too out " running practice". This morning I planned on 4 miles but I ran 1 mile.
Tomorrow my goal is to run more than 1 mile and that's all I can do.
goal setting!
