Second Track Tuesday in June

Second Track Tuesday in June

COVID- 19, “The Rona Era”

Last Tuesday was cool and muggy. Today is a different story. Today’s Track workout is like no other. If we were training for a decathlon we would be doing this workout. Running, burpees, mountain climbers, planks, and running.

I’ll be honest, when I saw the workout, my first thought was..oh fuck. I have to know this and pace the people. There was a lot of writing down the numbers. We started off with 6x200s, 20 sec mountain climbers, and 1 min break. Then repeat. Second round: 4x300 with 40sec burpees and 90sec break. Third round 2x400s with 40sec plank and 60 sec break. Oh and I was pacing at a 5k, then 1 mile pace. I kept a 5k pace all the way. The finally was 1x800- any pace you want.

Doing it made more sense and it wasn’t so scary. I’m thankful that MB( other pacer) was with me. She did this before and she was our timer.

Today we also had some goodies. Tomorrow is global running day and Nike is launching it’s Volt theme. Everyone got a free shirt, which is always fun.

Because our first session was the day after memorial day, we had a good number of folks. This Tuesday, we had a lot more folks and new folks too. I was able to reintroduce myself to the runners that volunteered for Pioneer’s 10k and half marathon.

Team Run had a good number of folks in our group. After the 1st 6x200 it wasn’t bad. I kept and stayed on pace. Go Tiffany.

As the morning got warmer, I wondered if I could marathon train in this weather. By 7a.m. it was getting hotter. Coach Dan told us this was the second week of Chicago Marathon training. I’m not running Chicago, but I do the Every women’s Marathon, I would have to make a decision soon. The race organizers ask women for their stories for the race. As we know I have a story. If I submit my story, then I have to commit. Ugh.

For the moment, my thoughts were keeping on track with pacing and getting this workout right. And I did. I felt good about it. Team Red appreciated it.

Being uncomfortable and stepping into the unknown is a theme. I wasn’t alone because I had support from MB and the patience of team red.

It was a good track Tuesday
