#Winning on a Thursday
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
It’s July and it’s still hot. I wanted to run a 10k this morning but that did not happen. Life happens. My Iowan called at 2 a.m. to chat. His mom is in hospice care and she has taken a turn for the worse. I wanted to be available to chat to him and make sure everything is ok. I know what it’s like to lose your mother. More specifically, have your mom in hospice care. We talked for more than an hour.
When my alarm went off at 5 a.m., I couldn’t get up. I needed to embrace resting. My compromise to myself was to run a mile. I had a hair appointment at 10 a.m. I’ll pack my running gear. Run a mile, then go to my favorite coffee shop and work before my appointment.
I think I was still tired. I didn’t have a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen or even a vision. It was past 8 a.m. and it was hot. I was slow and steady when I ran. I ran through Dudley square and around Madison Park School. I kept going until I reached the Reggie Lewis Center. Then I turned right. I ran past Whitter Health Clinic and the Boston Police Headquarters before I turned right again on Melena Case.
All in all 1.34 miles at a 9:53 mile pace. I was ok with making this adjustment. At least I kept it moving.
Happy Thursday
