Super Sunday 5 miler

Super Sunday 5 miler

COVID-19, “The Rona Era”

Super Sunday, FU cancer 5k and 5 miler. When I signed up for this race I didn’t think I would run a 15 or 16 miler the day before. But here I am. I could change it to the 5k but I won’t. I’m going to keep to the 5 miler. Even if I walk, jog, hop, skip or run it.

Back in the day we would have a big turn out for the Super Sunday race. The race coincidences with the winter warrior challenge. It was the big final event. Now, a lot of people are marathon training or life is just happening. I wasn’t sure if anyone would show up today but I knew I would be there.

This year the race started at 10a.m. and the course was a bit different because of construction. I’m glad I got my bib number and packet last Saturday so I wouldn’t have to deal with the crowds.

More than 1700 were running this race. Another new thing was the race being advertise on the billboard off I-93. I got there early, 8:30a.m. I needed to park and check everything out.

I loved seeing my Track Tuesday folks, Pioneers, and Trailblazhers running crew because they always run deep. Then I saw our photographer, Brian Lewis. I love him. We had a long and good hug. He always takes picture of BGR Boston. We recapped on knowing each other for at least 10 years and all the fun we have.

An extra bonus was seeing a couple of BGR members that I haven’t seen in a long time and my friend Liz came out. It was such a great vibe.

I thought after 15 miles my legs would be dead but they were good. I took things slow and steady and finished in 49 minutes. Trust the process and training.
