Super Sunday

Super Sunday

5 mile a.m. Super Bowl Sunday run with my BGR sole sistas. This is the second year for the Super Sunday race cancer foundation 5k/5mile race. This year it was 47 degrees out but when the wind hit, it was not a  joke. At least 14 of my BGR sole sisters showed up to run this race out of the over 2,000 people that signed up.  Many picked the 5k and some the 5 miler. Just the fact we were running at 10a.m. on super bowl sunday was great.

The race was in Kendall square in Cambridge. Of course a mostly white and younger group. To see and be around my brown and black ladies always makes me super happy. This year we have several ladies, whom this was their first race.   Our Coach G showed up to support.

Instead of starting at 10 for the 5 miler , we started at 10:20 and the 5k people started 20 minutes after that.

At some point around mile 3, I started to see some of the 5k running ladies. I would give them a smile and rubbed them to let them know that I "SEE them" and "SUPPORT" them to keep going.

As I was getting close to the finish line I saw my girl Tonya. I made it a point to do my best to speed up to catch her. At point we were neck and neck put she put it in high gear and finished super strong.

Our motto " leave no sista behind." When we finished we all waited to support others crossing the line. Ever our sole sister Jenny who was 8th from last place we pleased to see us cheering her on to cross the finish line. This was her first Boston race.

I just love us and so glad we can support each other........Then it was about getting our medals, more photos, wine, fried chicken, and a dance party in the tent. So much fun.
