Saturday 11 miler
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
The rain has stopped and this is my first long run of 2023. 11 miles today. When I counted from race day to today, 17 weeks. I just got back from the Cape for a mini get-away. My running and eating were not on point and the best. I own and acknowledge that. Now that I’m back, game on. Really, GAME ON.
Today was a lovely 38 degree running weather. My motivation was sunrise, stalkers, and seeing runners along the Boston Marathon route. I didn’t know where my route would take me. I started on the MIT side of the Charles.
It feels like it’s race season because so many people were out running around. I ran through the Esplande and then made my way around Boston Commons. Then I had the idea of running part of the Boston Marathon route. So I ran down Bolyston street to the finish line of the marathon. To my surprise there was a group of yellow hat wearing running that wanted to take a picture before they started running.
I somewhat followed them and they were running the route. I just continued on, keeping in mind that I had to turn around at some point.
My energy level was low and I need to start wearing my fuel belt. I made a note of that. And around mile 9 I started to feel a tightening in my left calf. I kept going. It was such a great time and I was feeling right expect for the fuel. I surprised myself with finishing 11 miles
11.11 miles, 10:57 mile pace/ 2:01:38. I can tell that training is working.
