Saturday 11 miler
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Second Saturday of running on the Boston Marathon course. Last Saturday I accidentally ran 13 miles. I was suppose to do 12. Today is 11 miles. I am going to stick to 11 miles.
6:45a.m. is when I parked the car by the mile 20 marker. I remembered the loop that I would run from Newton, Chestnut Hill- past Boston College, Boston, Newton, Netwon Center, Wasban, and back to Newton. I couldn’t remember how many miles it was. I thought maybe 10 maybe 11 but I was going to give it a go.
I started up the hill and ran through BC. I think there might have been a game of sorts happening because there was event parking. As I was running up the incline, I saw Turkeys. Turkeys! My not so favorite.
I kept on going. I noticed my legs. Especially my left leg. It felt a big weak. I was taking notice of this. After mile 3 it was fine. This morning I wore my fuel vest again, still trying to test it out.
I made sure to hydrate and back gu with me. I ate PBand J before I left. I actually felt good this morning running those miles. I would drink water and I only had one gu, though I packed three. This was good practice on those hills and being on the course for a long period of time. Around 8ish, is when I started to see more people. The closer to 9 a.m. and near mile 20, is when the flow the runners kept going up and down those inclines.
This was the first go round. More running and practice is needed. For energy and hydration I felt good.
11.19 miles, 10:55 pace and in 2hours and 2mins. This is the baseline. I think going to acupuncture on Friday was also helpful. That may be the routine.
Overall felt good. Next Saturday, I think 14 miles will be the goal.
