5 mile Thursday on the Cape
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
It still feels like fall on the Cape. It’s 45 degrees and rainy. Very rainy. I’m glad it’s warm because this rain could be snow. I’m trying to take advantage of being away and putting in some miles.
Yesterday, I saw a bike path that would be great to run on but I had to find where it starts of at least when I can get on. It’s called the Shining Sea Bikeway and it’s about a 15 mile bike path that goes from Woods Hole to North Falmouth. There are a lot of ponds, natures, historic markers, cranberry bogs, and a bunch of other things along the way.
Since I’m not familiar with the area, I waited until it was light to run. 7:30 a.m., which is late for me is when I ran. I knew parking for the bikepath was a couple of miles away from our hotel.
Once there, it was quiet and misty. I wasn’t sure if I should go right or go left on the path. I went to right to see where the road would take me.
This direction was away from the water, which was fine. I only one person running. Everyone else was walking or walking with their dog. The path was flat and eerie to me. To be honest, I did get a bit bored with the flatness. I did some across a cranberry blog which was under renovation and a couple of interesting ponds. Besides the 4 people who passed me, I felt alone on the bikepath.
I turned around to head back to my car and see what was done on the other end. I realized I should have made a left turn. This is where all the action was. More people, artwork, signage, birds and birds and birds.
My leg was telling me that I needed to rest it. I could feel a tightness in my calve. Since Sunday I have been running everyday. Tomorrow, Friday will be a rest day. It was good to explore a bit.
