Last Day of January- Track Tuesday
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Well, it’s starting to snow as I left the house. Luckily, it’s warm enough that it’s not fully sticking on the ground. Today is the second time that I am trying to bring my clothes and shower at the Reggie before driving to work.
There were about 70 people that showed up today, which is pretty good. I so appreciate coach Dan and his acknowledgement of us being in Roxbury and the black community it is. Today he also acknowledge the death of Tyre Nichols and the Asian american man that was killed in Cambridge. We took a moment of silence to acknowledge that.
Then we got to the workout. 2- 800s, and then a 10minute run and then 1 -800 and then sprints. The 10 minute run was at Tempo pass. I ran with Rachel and Anna. I appreciate them for keeping me at tempo. We might have been running a 9:30pace. Pacers are the best.
Around 7:45a.m. is when I got off the track to shower. I made it to doing a 400 instead of the last 800 and spirits. It’s always a good vibe of seeing folks…Black Men Run, Trailblazers, Pioneers. I have a crew going. Of course my team Red crew with Jordan and MB. I will admit I was tried today and I struggled. Getting to the Reggie and knowing I was not alone is always motivation and half the battle.
One “ oops” I had was not backing my work shoes and not packing my lunch. I guess it’s best to have running shoes than no shoes at all.
