5 mile Thursday
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Oh the struggle is always real. I did not want to get out of bed but I had to get up. I missed 10k a.m. humpday Wednesday. I chose sleep which is fine. I need to put some miles on the pavement before my next surgery and I won’t be able to run for six weeks.
This morning, I moved, slowly but I moved. I was out of the house by 5:50a.m. I arrived at Mystic River Reservation a little after six. It was foggy and cool out. My goal was to run a 10k to make up for Wednesday.
The 61 degree weather called for shorts and a light long sleeve shirt. I did some stretching before running. The swans and ducks were out in full force. The walkway bridge that is apart of the mystic was still closed. I had to recalculate and run on the newly opened path.
This was a good choice. I ran in Somerville, Everett and Charlestown. It was quiet. I wasn’t expecting to run close to Bunker Hill Memorial. For shits and giggles I ran up the hill to get to the monument. Charlestown was getting ready for the 4th of July celebrations with all the red , white, and blue flags that were out.
As I walked around the monument, I saw a sign with a QR code for a Patriot of color.
I thought about the Jan. 6th hearings that are going and the patriots that fort for this country and the “patriots” that are on a mission to destroy it.
Oh so many thoughts.
It was getting later in the morning and I had to find a place to park in my neighborhood( street cleaning day) and get ready for morning meetings.
It was a pleasant to run back. I felt a bit tired and I know I need to better fuel myself.
This was a good unexpected run.
