Friday July Rain
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Frizzy July Friday. And it’s raining like a mother. Last night there was non-stop rain. This morning it’s raining. Actually all weekend it’s going to rain. It’s going to be a wet 4th of July weekend. I’m not complaining. We had three days of a heatwave and in the pacific northwest, they are baking from the heat with no relief in sight. Bring on the rain and 63 degree weather.
Normally I don’t run in rain but I was walking this morning. I put on my BGR hat and kept it moving. Watching the news before I left, there was a lot of flooding on the highway. My plans to drive somewhere and run changed. I can walk in my hood.
I just decided to walk without any plans for where to walk and how many miles I was going to do. I happen to walk by the new condos/apartments in the gentrified section along the waterfront. To my surprise, there was something new. There was a adult/ play park. This was a place for adult games, music, food, drinks, along the water. There was a tall ship that had a bar and maybe a restaurant. All this was not there the last time I walked/ran this way.
The gentrified area gets all the nice things. I will not lie, I will come back to visit. It reminded me of the Lawn on D in South Boston. They have swings and all the same things. This also reminded me of Philly and the huge party boat that I went to with my friend Lisette. This boat had three or four decks with different bars and music. I’m curious to see how this turns out.
After my walking tour, the rain, of course, decided to rain harder. I didn’t want to spend too much time walking in the rain. I walked around the waterfront to Maverick Square and then I walked home. 3.57 miles. My hat was soaked, I was soaked. I tried to text while walking in the air. Not a good choice. I didn’t burn as many calories as I would have liked. I got up and got out for Friday.
