Monday Breakfast with Stalkers
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Today starts week three of post recovery since surgery. I’m at the halfway marker until I can start running. I wanted to start off Monday with a strong walk and use the power walking skills I learned from the Road to Wellness 5k training on Saturday.
Today I walked along the Charles River, which I don’t think I’ve ever done. The birds started chirping at 4:10a.m. When my alarm went off at 4:45a.m. I was up and ready. By 5:10a.m. I was parked by MIT. It was bright out and cool this morning. Around the Charles between Boston and Cambridge, all I saw this morning was runners. Everyone was running. I saw four people who were walking but everyone was running before 5:30a.m. It was crazy.
I know a lot of races that were in the spring have been moved to the Fall, Boston, Chicago, Berlin.. I think people are in training. They could have also been up just to run.
I picked up my walking pace. Instead of an 18 or 17 min walking mile I was doing 15 and 16 min mile. My arms were pumping and I was moving until I came upon the stalkers. There were so many of them out this morning. They were all eating breakfast. Note to self, 6 a.m. is breakfast time and I should not get in the way.
I completed four miles in an hour. When I started walking I finished a 5k in an hour. Definitely getting stronger and stepping up my game.
