5k = Graduation Day for WB4U Run
COVID-19, “ The Rona Era”
Sunday should be a day to rest and relax. Today is graduation day for the ladies that enrolled in Black Girls Run! Walk B4U run program. This quarter there were 8-10 ladies that signed up for the 10 week program to learn to walk and learn to run. Their graduation is a 5k run. Coaches Ivy and Carla have been working with the last for two and a half months.
As one of the Ambassadors I needed to cheer and support them on. I loved that these ladies were all shapes and sizes. Some planned on running with their child in a stroller. They were going to make this work.
We had snacks, medals, a swag bag, and finisher tape they had to broke through when they came to the end.
I wanted to be a pacer and run with them. Unfortunately I can’t. Just to cheer them on and having them do something they never thought they could was epic.
Bonus was seeing the other BGR ladies that I haven’t in person forever. She shared hugs, love, laughs, cheers, and dance moves.
