Beach run for mom's 75th
COVID-19, “The Rona Era”
Today is my mom’s 75th birthday. The last time physically celebrated her birthday, she turned 64. She passed away three months before she turned 65. It’s been 10 years of her not being in a physical space. Ten years of not hearing her voice or calling her to wish her happy birthday For the last seven years I’ve been running on her birthday because that is the only gift I can give her. Until COVID, I was running a half marathon on her birthday. Today, I ran on the beach. My mom loved the water. My goal was to run 7.50 miles for her. I ran 7.20 miles. I walked the .30 miles. My pelvic floor got a bit tight.
Today was a perfect 51 degrees for a Monday a.m. birthday run. It was cool enough that my sweat was cool. I hadn’t been on Revere Beach in a while but it was still a wonderful fall morning to run the beach. I didn’t run until 6:50 a.m. I shouldn’t complain. It wasn’t as early as I wanted but at least I had some daylight and I did wear the headlight just in case.
Happy birthday to my forever #1.
