Plotting and planning on a Friday

Plotting and planning on a Friday

COVID-19, “The Roan Era”

It feels like Friday already happened. In the Rona era, days, weeks, months, all blend. Today is officially Friday, check. It has been a while since I ran in Franklin Park on a Franklin Park Friday. Today was 3.30 a.m. miles in the Park. This was going to be awesome day to run because it was 60 degrees by 5:45 a.m. I was preparing for hot weather this morning because I don’t check the weather and I needed a light jacket. I’m glad I had one in my car. The overcast never went away and then the light to medium rain started to fall.

I was already here, I was already committed, so I thought I could at least run one mile in this weather. The rain did a dance of rain and no rain. Heavy and light rain. I kept on going. I ended up by the old zoo section where they had bear cages. I thought man, some people need a time out and need to be put in those cages for their badass behaviors. My thoughts were around some of the upper administrations and colleagues that I had to deal with this week around safety, reopening, racial equity and justice, privilege, and just being nasty… All the people that would be in those cages… Plotting and planning thoughts

This is the mental health beauty of running.

I kept on running and thinking. I ran upon a swing on a tree. This was different. I would like to be pushed and how pleasant this could be, if the rain wasn’t coming down.

When I went around the corner I saw men golfing on the golf course in the rain. I thought was not allowed in case there was thunder and lightening. I don’t know anything about golf. Perhaps they are allowed outside.

The privilege of golf course near a graffiti no justice, no peace, sprayed words. Again…plotting and planning thoughts there too.

What I love about Franklin Park, no matter the time of day, I always see an eclectic and diverse mix of black and brown people getting their exercise on!

Even in the early morning summer rain, I got miles, sweat, and my happy in on a Friday morning
