Muggy and energized
COVID-19 “The Rona Era”
Sunday there was rain, thunderstorms, and lightning. It was a stay inside on your couch, eat, and watch nettlix kind of day. Today, Monday, is the start of a new week, really a short four day work week because of the 4th of July.
Of course I have to start the last Monday in June by running. Today I planned on a 5k but I ran 4.05 miles. In those miles, I saw many BLM signs, better out and about, artwork, and just the overall beauty of the morning. It seems “ normal” in the morning but it isn’t.
I ran past a restaurant and I could see people cleaning the restaurant as people waited patiently outside to go in and get coffee. Physical distancing coffee before 7:30 a.m.
Also this morning I was chased. While I was running a white man across the street yelled at me and waved his hand towards me. I ignored him. I kept on running. This man continued to run parallel with me to the end of the block.
I’m thinking oh shit, here we go. I don’t know why this man is following me and trying to say words to me while running. As he crossed the street and came over my way, I realized that it was Steve from one of my running groups. Not cool.
Steve saw me and was excited to see me. Of course, I had on my ear buds, mask, running, running while black so not knowing it was steve with the mask and running with his dog, is understandable.
Under different situation I know I would not have felt the feeling that I did.It was great to see him and catch up, but damn, don’t run up on a black woman like that steve.
