First Summer run of 2020
COVID-19 “The Rona”
Now it is summer. Yesterday was spring, today it is summer. And it’s hot. It’s the kind of hot that I want to slap someone because I’m pissed that it is hot. Today I decided to sleep in a little late( until 6:30a.m.) on a Sunday before I went running. That was a huge mistake. By the time I laced up and walked out the door it was already 86 degrees out. I could feel the heat, sun, and humidity. I did not have to do too much movement before the sweat started to run off my skin.
My goal was to run 1 mile. If I could at least do that, I would be able to say that I had my first summer run. I had to run slow. I did see one man fully covered from top to bottom with scarf, sunglasses, and a hat. He did wave and acknowledge me as he ran. I kept on going.
My one mile marker became 1.50, 2.0 miles, 2.50 miles, 2.75 miles when I was close to home. I would have stopped but I wanted to get that extra .45 miles in and I did. 3.1 hot as miles.
I surprised myself and kept pushing being uncomfortable. Proud of me.
