All the 800s
Track Tuesday at the Reggie Lewis Center. I was just there on Sunday for the Youth Jamboree with my #girlgang and the center now looked so empty to me. I am here again for Track Tuesday. Currently its 51 degrees, dark, and it’s 6 a.m. I walked into the Reggie and it seemed empty and quick. I wondered where my people were?Did daylight savings time screw people up? What it the corona virus? Slowly people walked in. We talked about the corona virus and if the Boston Marathon or the New York race that is this weekend was going to be cancelled? Many of the track people work in medicine, bio-tech, and academia. We talked about cancelled classes and what it means in our work environments.
All conversations I thought I would never have. Instead of our normal hand slapping and fist bumping, we are going to do jazz hands, give a thumb or nod in support for each other. Yet, we continued to run and do our drills.
Today we did 5 sets of 800s with 3 200s in between. I’m learning the track language. Team read was doing this at marathon pace which was a 10:10 pace. This was a good pace for me. I didn’t hurt and I felt strong. We had 1 minute break between each set. I was able to keep going without a problem. We did a 7k.
I feel confident now running beyond a 10k for this weekend. Now I’m off to my last PT appointment! whoo-whoo for Tuesday
