Boston Marathon Youth Jamboree
Black Girls Run- Boston volunteered to help the B.A.A. with their Youth Jamboree. We have an amazing partnership with the B.A.A. We support them, they support us, it’s a great relationship. This event is free to children. They go to different stations to leave different track and field events. They go to each station, doing the activity and collecting stickers. Kind of like a passport. There is music, Wally from the Red Soxs, the Patriots Mascot, news media, and so much more. I was the volunteer lead at Station 6- which was shot put. The balls and disk were soft and squeezable. We had lots of little kids- 8 and under that came by and they just didn’t stop. It was fun and exhausting.
The bonus- we have over 10 BGR- girlgang come out to volunteer. Plus Jackie Joyner Kersee was here we all had a chance to meet and interact with her. I always love seeing the ladies because we see each other virtually. The Corona virus didn’t stop us from hugging and kissing each other because that is how tight we are.
