Black Girls Run Volunteer at the Boston Marathon Youth Jamboree
Today was not a running day. Sunday recovery from Saturday’s 21 miler. Today the #girlgang is volunteering at the Reggie Lewis Center for the Boston Marathons Youth Jamboree. This was my first year volunteering. Some of the ladies have been doing this for almost 3 years now. This was a free event for kids to run and have fun. For my first time there were so many kids and they wanted to run and run. :). I was told last year there were more kids. Today with Daylight savings time and the snow, it might have impacted the number of kids that would have come out.
My station was #7, the obstacle course for 5th-7th graders. We had a couple of amazing Olympic runners to help show the kids how to do the course. It was tiring but so much fun. The little kids were super cute, they just ran and did their own thing. I will admit, the kids made me excited about running.
